As part of my master’s thesis project, I developed a strategic board game called “Blobs & Clouds.” The Level 3 Attack Blob represents the final stage in the offensive evolution line of the Blob units. It evolves from the Level 2 Attack Blob after stepping onto a second evolution field, unlocking its full offensive potential.
This piece embodies raw strength and aggression. To clearly communicate its evolved status and increased attack power, I gave the Level 3 Attack Blob two large horns, building upon the single-horn design of its predecessor. In addition, the figure now has two eyes, a deliberate stylistic choice that signifies its advanced level and greater awareness compared to the single-eyed Level 2 version and eyeless Level 1 form.
I sculpted the model in ZBrush, carefully balancing organic softness with more dominant, pointed shapes to reflect the creature’s aggressive role. Retopology and UV mapping were done in Maya, and I hand-painted the textures in Substance Painter, staying true to the stylized visual language of the game. The colors remain in harmony with the game board, which is defined by light and dark cloud fields, preserving the figure’s integration into the overall aesthetic.
As the strongest offensive unit in Blobs & Clouds, the Level 3 Attack Blob offers a significant tactical advantage-capable of threatening key positions and turning the tide of the game in critical moments.
