Level 3 Defensive Blob – Blobs & Clouds (Board Game Project)

As part of my master’s thesis project, I developed a strategic board game called “Blobs & Clouds.” The Level 3 Defensive Blob is the final evolution in the defensive line of Blob units. It evolves from the Level 2 Defensive Blob by stepping onto a second evolution field, unlocking its full potential as a protective and resilient figure.

This unit is designed to fortify critical areas, shield the Ur-Cloud, and hold the line against enemy advances. To visually express its enhanced defensive strength, I gave the model a massive stone-like structure on its head and back, building on the Level 2 design. It now also features two eyes, signaling its fully evolved status and heightened awareness.

The model was sculpted in ZBrush, with an emphasis on bulk, weight, and solid form to reflect durability and defense. Retopology and UV mapping were completed in Maya, and the textures were hand-painted in Substance Painter, using a stylized approach. The color palette remains in harmony with the cloud-themed board, supporting clear visual distinction while integrating into the game's atmospheric world.

As the most durable unit in Blobs & Clouds, the Level 3 Defensive Blob plays a key role in late-game strategies, allowing players to establish strongholds and protect vital positions.
